Smart Specialisation in energy Event
el miércoles, 21 de junio de 2017 de 11:00 a 12:30
The Conference is organized within the EU Sustainable Energy Week 12th edition. With smart specialisation strategies in the implementation phase, clean energy is one of the main priorities for most EU regions. This workshop showcases how different sectors of society are taking an active role in energy action. These contributions are addressed by the smart specialisation strategies at the regional level through a bottom-up participative process.
This local action involves the joint participation of public and private bodies, research and academic representatives and civil society organisations in the identification of strategic energy priorities at regional level (e.g. bioenergy, sustainable buildings, solar and smart grids). The target group of this event includes stakeholders and practitioners of smart specialisation strategies that have included energy-related priorities at national and regional levels. The central topic of EUSEW, Clean Energy for All Europeans, will be exemplified in concrete priorities selected by regions. The issue of interregional cooperation on energy and smart specialisation will be also addressed.
The Smart Specialisation Platform on Energy (S3PEnergy) was launched in May 2015 as a joint initiative of the Directorates-General for Regional and Urban Policy and for Energy and the Joint Research Centre (JRC). It aims to bring together representatives from EU institutions, Member States and their regions, energy experts and stakeholders to carry out joint action for an efficient implementation of smart specialisation strategies in the energy sector.
EU Cohesion Policy has a key role in the realisation of the Energy Union — in Europe's regions and cities — by providing about EUR 69 billion over 2014-2020 for investments related to all five dimensions of the Energy Union, This includes some EUR 29 billion for energy efficiency, renewables, co-generation, smart energy infrastructure and low-carbon research and innovation. It also supports its aims by ensuring key enabling conditions, such as capacity building, technical assistance and territorial cooperation.
